Imagine waking up and realising the app you used yesterday is already outdated. That is what living in 2026 feels like.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing how we live, learn, and work. For many young people in Nigeria, this is exciting. You see the “tech bros” and “tech sis” making waves. You want to build apps, design games, and solve big problems.
But for a young Christian, there is often a worry. You might ask yourself: “Do I have to choose between my faith and my future?” or “Is the tech world too worldly for me?”
At Baptist EdTech School, our answer is a loud “No.”
You don’t have to leave your Bible at the door to enter the tech industry. In fact, the world needs tech leaders who fear God now more than ever. We built this school to prove that you can be a firebrand Christian and a world-class developer at the same time.
The Problem with “Tech Money” Culture
Right now, everyone is talking about “tech money.” Coding bootcamps are springing up all over Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. They promise you big salaries and remote jobs.
These schools are good at teaching you skills. They teach you how to write code. But they often miss the most important part: Character.
In a rush to “make it,” many young people forget why they are building. This creates a gap. We see great apps used for scams. We see smart algorithms used to hurt people.
We built Baptist EdTech to fix this. We believe that skill without character is a disaster waiting to happen. We want to teach you how to code, yes. But we also want to teach you how to use that code to glorify God.
Who is a “Christian Digital Leader”?
So, who are we trying to raise? What makes our students different from everyone else?
A Christian Digital Leader is not just a programmer who goes to church on Sundays. It is deeper than that.
1. We Don’t Do “Anyhowness” (Excellence):
We believe God is the first Creator. When He made the world, He said it was “good.” He didn’t do a halfway job. As His children, we shouldn’t write messy code or design ugly websites. We reject mediocrity. We do our work with excellence because our work is an offering to God.
2. We Can Be Trusted (Integrity):
In a digital world full of “Yahoo-Yahoo” and data theft, integrity is rare. It is valuable. A Baptist EdTech student is someone who speaks the truth. When you handle data or build AI, you do it with honesty. You become the leader people can trust with the future.
3. We Serve Others (Service):
We don’t just learn tech to “flex” or get rich. We learn so we can help. Imagine building a website for your church or an app that helps students in rural areas read better. We use our keyboards to serve God and humanity.
No More “La Cram, La Pour”
You cannot learn to swim by reading a textbook. In the same way, you cannot learn to code just by watching videos.
At Baptist EdTech, we don’t believe in “la cram, la pour” (cramming just to pass). We believe in building.
- Real Projects: From your first week, you will build real things. If you are learning web design, you will build a live website.
- Mentors Who Care: You won’t be alone. Our teachers are pros who love Jesus. They are there to guide you when you are stuck and pray with you when you are stressed.
- Faith in Class: We talk about big questions. How do we use AI ethically? How do we balance screen time with prayer time? We weave faith into everything we teach.
Don’t Fear the Future (A Note on AI)
As an educator, I hear students ask: “Will AI take my job?” or “Is AI dangerous?”
Here is the truth: AI is a tool. It is like a hammer. You can use a hammer to build a house, or you can use it to break things. It depends on the person holding the hammer.
We want you to be the one holding the tool.
We are teaching you to master AI, not run from it. We need Christians in the room where the future is being built. We need you to shape how these technologies work.
